People say I have an anointed eye. I capture emotions as if they're in 3D and emotions that people don't realize they express. I aim for the WOW factor! Sometimes there is only a small window for capturing something very special and I really can’t appreciate the beauty of a shot until I’ve seen in on a computer. Yeah, sometimes I surprise myself and I get a lot of “lucky” shots! I've had a few classes here and there, but basically self-taught along with other photography friends. I do a lot of studying online and I still study on a regular basis to keep my skills sharp and to learn new things. My plate is always full because of referrals, so I am forever grateful for that.
I fell in love with photography in the early '70s, but I didn't go professional until 2003 or somewhere along that year, although I had been the lead photographer at Saint Paul's Baptist Church from 1992 - 2012 and involved with another photography company. I thank God for blessing me and I thank SPBC for giving me the opportunity to express myself there, hopefully capturing breathtaking moments of everything I have done! I can’t say I have a favorite aspect of photography, but I am a nature lover, especially plant life, rivers and architecture. The breathtaking beauty of anything outdoors never ceases to amaze me.
My new love is videography, also self-taught. Pictures are fine, but there’s nothing like having a wedding in video. Whenever I do a wedding, I insist on the couple including a video because they will want to go back and revisit their special day from time to time.
My husband William and I are currently in charge of the Media Ministry at Open Door Ministry in Highland Springs, VA. We are responsible for the live streaming on YouTube and I handle the photos, videos, promos, church website, etc. We are a small church, but we have over 60 years of combined video and photography experience, so we were able to go live very quickly!
I am currently going through my thousands of pictures to do a show sometime within the next year when I retire from corporate life. I hope you guys will check me out!
